Grafton, since 1735
A short version of the long story, and where our class fits in it.

c. 1660
Hassanamesit
Nipmuc families and missionary John Eliot form the "praying village" of Hassanamesit — "place of small stones." Four acres on Brigham Hill remain in Nipmuc hands today.

Grafton is incorporated
Named by Governor Belcher for his friend Charles FitzRoy, 2nd Duke of Grafton. The Common was laid out three years later.

Shoe town
The year Grafton made 671,000 pairs of shoes. Ethan Allen had started making firearms in town five years earlier.

1935
The bandstand
Hollywood built the gazebo on the Common for "Ah, Wilderness!" and left it behind. It has been rebuilt since, but it is still where the town gathers.

Our building
The high school on Lake Ripple that we walked into as freshmen. It became Grafton Middle School when the new GHS opened in 2012.

Us
Green and white, Grafton Indians, the last class to graduate before smartphones took over. Twenty years on, we are still the same crew.
